WebGreek Clouds shack with Facebook

That’s right boys and girls, WebGreek has built facebook functionality into our clouds. If you have no idea what WebGreek is, or how we building on fluffy clouds, here’s a crash course:

What is the Cloud?
Your Cloud is just like your computer that your using right now, except the hard drive and applications that you store data on and interact with are hosted on the Internet, making your cloud VERY special. With your username and password, you’ll be able to access your data from any Internet connection. Imagine being able to access all your music, documents, calendar, etc. from anywhere, at anytime. That’s a cloud.

What is WebGreek?
WebGreek is the only greek company to use cloud technology to provide group collaboration for fraternities and sororities. So no matter where you are, you can easily connect to your chapter’s files, music, calendar, and more. With this new release, we’ve added in the functionality to sync iTunes playlists & songs so you can access your music from anywhere, anytime.

So where does facebook fit? With a chapter cloud, each member of the greek organization gets their own personal cloud, allowing them to back up important docs, sync iTunes, coordinate calendars, etc. Now, with the new integration, users can connect with ‘the book’ and pull in all their friends, and it will look like this (to the right)

From here, users can sort their friends into default groups like Close Friends, Professional, Family or create custom groups on their own. Now this may not be revolutionary in and of itself, but stick with me.

Here’s where it gets fun…once your friends are in your cloud, you can privately share playlists, songs, files, photos, calendar events, links and more. The key word here…private.

For example, if I want to share my Coachella playlist with my entire Coachella crew but I don’t want everyone on facebook to have access, I simply select the Coachella group of friends, attach my playlist, write a quick note and hit share. It’s simple, it’s social, it’s private.

Now, everyone can see that I shared a playlist with a group of friends, but only my Coachella crew will have access to click the link and listen to the tunes.

Everyone in the Coachella crew can also sign up for their own personal cloud to sync their iTunes, backup files, coordinate their calendar and share with anyone in their facebook circle. It’s the perfect way to protect your posts from unwarranted eyes.

WebGreek couples the social connectivity of facebook with the exclusivity of an intranet. So no more worrying about who sees what…check it out and start enjoying your sharing privacy.

Have you ever limited your facebook posts because you were afraid of who could see it? Too bad this girl didn’t have a personal cloud to privately share…if she did, she’d probably still have a job! Tell us how private sharing on facebook will help keep you and your [select] friends in the loop…
